What Materials Do I Need For The Adamantine Forge In Baldur’s Gate 3?

The Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you create awesome items, but you’ll need some special materials first.

Here’s a list of the materials you will need:

1. Mithral Ore:

This rare metal is what makes the forge work, and you’ll find two special spots with Mithral veins inside the Adamantine Forge area itself.

However, be careful though, these spots could have enemies or tricky jumps to reach. Spells like teleport or ranged attacks can help you grab the Mithral safely.

2. Adamantine Mold:

This mold decides what kind of gear you make (sword, armor, etc.). There are a few scattered around the Adamantine Forge. Just look near bookshelves, and explore hidden paths, and some enemies may even drop them.

How To Use The Adamantine Forge In Baldur’s Gate 3?

Here is a step-by-step guide to using the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3:

Step 1: Locate The Adamantine Forge

The Adamantine Forge is hidden deep within the Underdark, in the Grymforge area. From the Grymforge waypoint, head north up the stairs and guide through the Duergar-controlled ruins.

You’ll eventually reach a cave-in that you’ll need to clear by either convincing the Deep Rothe to destroy the rubble or using explosives.

Step 2: Gather The Required Materials

As we’ve mentioned, to craft items at the Adamantine Forge, you’ll need two things:

  1. Mithral Ore
  2. A Mold

Step 3: Activate The Forge

Once you have the Mithral Ore and a mold, head to the Adamantine Forge itself. Interact with the Mould Chamber and place the mold you want to use. Then, chat with the Crucible and insert the Mithral Ore.

Step 4: Beware The Grym Boss Fight

Activating the Forge will trigger a boss fight with Grym, a powerful construct guardian. To defeat Grym, position your members in the corners of the forge, with one character near the Lava Valve. Bait Grym to the center of the forge, then activate the Forge Lever to drop the piston hammer on him.

Step 5: Retrieve Your Crafted Item

If you successfully defeat Grym, the Forge will complete the crafting process, and you can retrieve your new Adamantine weapon, shield, or armor from the Mould Chamber. However, you only have enough Mithral Ore to craft a maximum of two items, so choose wisely.

The Adamantine Forge items offer unique abilities and benefits, with the Adamantine Splint Armor and Adamantine Shield being considered among the best options. The weapons, while visually striking, tend to be outclassed by other weapons found later in the game.
